From “Tech Crunch” I read the streaming video site Kyte.TV (see above) is finally offering live streaming hosting — rather than just archived streaming — as well as launching a new site, Kyte.com (see below), that’s promoting the creation of video channels for corporations, cellular operators and bloggers — including celebrities. Kyte is working with the rapper 50 Cent, for example,
Kyte’s main business is trying to attractive corporate channels rather than catering to consumer live streaming. Update (3/10/08): Kyte just closed on Series B funding for a total of $21.1 million. The company’s press release says funding came from “Steamboat Ventures, a venture capital firm affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, and Intellect Capital Ventures, a venture fund initiative of TeliaSonera managed by Intellect Partners, also participating. “As previously announced, several world leaders in wireless also are participating in this round, including Telefónica, Nokia Growth Partners, Swisscom and DoCoMo Capital, Inc., as well as Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Holtzbrinck Ventures, the investment arm of one of Europe’s largest media conglomerates.” |
