Starting an Internet Business – First Five Steps

What are the first five steps to starting an internet business? I think that most beginners struggle with getting started with internet marketing and the entire online arena because they just don’t know what the first few steps are. I get questions all the time asking me how to get started, and asking what to do.

I think once you get past the first five steps, then making things happen online gets much easier.

So what are the first five steps for internet marketing and online business success?

1) You must simply decide what the first topic that you want your business to be about, is going to be. That’s it. Nothing fancy. You can change it in a month, if you want. But if you never choose anything, you can never really get started. Do you have any idea how many people are not in internet business today because for the last year they have wondered what niche to start it in and are stuck like deer in headlights? Anything – dog products, diving equipment, cars – anything you know any thing about makes a great topic to start your first web business around.

2) You must get a website and a domain name. This is really easy. Type in “web hosting” in your search engine and there will be like 1000 different ones to choose from, each one claiming they are the best. Just choose one and pay the fee – it is your very first web site, who cares if you have the best service – you won’t know the difference. You will still be better off than you are without a business. Then buy a domain name. That is really easy. Buy it on the same web site as the web hosting – just follow the directions and buy it.

3) Get a web site builder (your web host probably gave you one for free) and follow the directions and create your first page.

4) Write 10 articles and submit them to 10 different article directories. Just follow the directions at the article directories. Be sure to put a link back to your web site in the bio of the article.

5) Take each one of your articles and post them to a page in your new web site – the site builder instructions will tell you how to do it.

Look, there are many different ways of getting started, and I have given you the simplest. You have been hemming and hawing for a year or two, trying to decide to do it, and you are frozen in fear. Just do it!
